Kate has worked in strategic health service settings for 16 years, having worked closely with Ministers at the Department of Health, South West organisations at the Strategic Health Authority and within tobacco control for the past six years. Her career started in the private sector in marketing and events, prior to adding media and crisis management, stakeholder engagement and public health campaigning to her skillset.

Melissa Cullum

As a marketing and communications specialist with 15 years’ experience, Melisa has worked in both the public and private sectors, including The Prince’s Trust and Avon & Somerset Constabulary. Since 2009 she has delivered a number of social marketing campaigns to help change the behaviour of smokers and raise awareness of the harms of smoking. Melissa is calm under pressure, organised and loves a new challenge.

Russell Sharland Illegal Alcohol & Tobacco Programme Manager
Russell Sharland

Russell’s background is in local councils as a Trading Standards Officer and Investigation Manager specialising in age-restricted sales and intellectual property enforcement, with a particular focus on tobacco and alcohol. Now managing the Illegal Tobacco and Alcohol Programme, he builds effective partnerships between Public Health and Regulatory Enforcement teams.
